Tweed City Family Practice

My 2nd visit to this surgery, another disappointment!! Made a booking to see a doctor for something quite urgent. I turned up early as I needed a to see a doctor as quick as possible. I was turned away as I couldn’t make a payment till the next day because of short funds. When did money come before the health of people… I’m disgusted and will never go back. Very poor practice, you should be ashamed!!

Having moved from Qld with multiple medical issues, it was very daunting. First doctor I visited I felt very stony faced, felt like I was a burden and came away with no much needed referrals or feeling like Ihad foubd my new surgery. Was quoted $76 and had to pay $112 at the counter because I took longer. I had asked before my appointment to so I was prepared because my carer could not attend with me. Being my first appointment, I presumed I would have had longer anyway. A week later feeling like I had a severe chest infection, extremely unwell, stopped in to ask where the toilet was as I was told I needed to do the covid test before my appointment, was left waiting for half an hour, then called to reception to be told to leave as I had a positive result. I was masked and sitting away from everybody because I was coughing and dizzy. I ended up with ambulance at my home a couple of hours later. Was happy to have Dr Theary call me with a phone consult next day. He was thorough, caring, understanding and listened. As a person with cognitive dysfunction and struggles especially when very unwell, I felt heard and cared for and happy to say I will continue with this doctor as I feel he can help me and cope with a person with multiple medical issues.

The front counter staff here are not very pleasant in person or on the phone- you can hear the sarcasm in their voice and the attitude every single time - get off your high horses girls and be nice. You are working in the health sector and if you think it’s a drag to answer patient questions, get out and find yourselves a job you would prefer instead! Terrible- I won’t be going back - EVER!
